Lisa Featherby, Private Chef & Food Director

Having a hotelier father lent Lisa a unique childhood, living in hotels and hanging out with chefs from around the world. It was a natural evolution to want to work in the food and hospitality space - for ten years she worked in restaurant and commercial kitchens alongside Australian culinary legends such as Janni Kyrtisis at MG Garage and Peter Doyle at Cicada, where she discovered everything there was to know about how to make a dish sing - from the integrity of ingredients to the beauty of presentation - as well as how to design a menu and to provide the optimum dining experience.
It was the ideal foundation for the next stage of Lisa’s career, when she decided to leave restaurant life behind and become a food stylist and food/recipe writer. (It was a chance opportunity to take on a role as private chef to the late media mogul, Kerry Packer that instead found her working for his media company instead.) In this incarnation Lisa worked in Paris, New York and Sydney, for a wide range of publications - including Marie Claire, Bon Appétit, Food Illustrated and French Glamour - as well as on advertising campaigns, before becoming food director of Gourmet Traveller magazine, which thrived under her tenure. Lisa’s experience with recipes, beautiful table scapes, restaurants, travel and publishing led her to launch her own publication, Eatable and bespoke culinary business, Food Concierge.
